"This, the film suggests, is what the adult world is really like: it
starts with a period of longing and uncertainty, in which you wish,
pointlessly, that things were otherwise; it progresses through a series
of (literally) gut-wrenching and heart-stopping betrayals and
compromises; and then it culminates in a slow, painful, lonely, and
humiliating death."

caricature
99% of people you meet, begin as first impressions, then develop into more sophisticated and interesting characters. never have i met someone whom i generously assumed must be well-meaning and must have depth, descend into a caricature -- until now.

38 Oxley Road
LKY's wish or not (this shouldn't matter), if we have memorials to Lim
Bo Seng, Tan Kim Seng, Sun Yat Sen and even a Dalhousie, no reason to
dismiss preserving 38 Oxley Road. at the same time, LKY's, and now his
two younger children's, concerns are objectively far-fetched, as Cherian
notes: "I wonder if we’re getting carried away with the fate of the
house. Yes, 38 Oxley Road is an iconic site. But we need a sense of
proportion. It is not what Jerusalem is to People of the Book."

GOAT
that's now 5 Finals losses for LeBron. people will always argue Jordan
is greater cos he won all his Finals, cos he elevated when it mattered.
people will also pepper lots of caveats -- LeBron reached more Finals,
Jordan took a hiatus, LeBron had better teammates. but what's undeniable
is LeBron has dominated the majority of those Finals, especially those
he lost, and was MVP if MVPs were given to losers. like most debates in
sports, if minor details had swung the other way, LeBron could have 8
rings now.

Denial - best film i've seen in a while. a sharp study of free speech,
racism and logic versus emotion. boldly addresses the myriad of views on
the Holocaust, from invested to detached. most of all it pits Timothy
Spall against Tom Wilkinson.
