i like motion pictures
12 years a slave portrays a dark period of American history, has gorgeous shots, and has strong backing - all ingredients for success tonight. but even if it wins the statuette, Gravity was the best film of the year. because it achieved what filmmaking should - it constructed an unusual premise and surprised.
